Who Ya Gonna Call?? Ghost Kitchen!
If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who you gonna call?
Ghostbusters!
False Alarm
In this case, there’s no need to call the Ghostbusters. The “something” in the neighborhood happens to be Ghost Kitchen, the new resident food truck at Smartmouth Brewery. in Norfolk. Not strange at all, but they’re showing up with scary good eats and are among the latest food trucks to hit the asphalt. But, based on their early popularity, we already feel that they will be a fan favorite for quite some time.
This new tasty food truck taking up permanent residency at Smartmouth is a conjuring of Blake Sehestedt, a 757 native. After studying at the Culinary Institute of America and working at a Michelin star restaurant, Blake is back in town as the owner and operator of Ghost Kitchen. His menu focuses on fresh street food full of locally sourced ingredients–a nod to California’s street food scene.
Ghost Kitchen’s menu consists of burgers, dogs, sandwiches, fresh salads, and a few dependable side dishes, all emphasizing the use of farm-to-table ingredients.
For lighter fare, the Cobb salad has a fresh spring mix, egg, tomato, cucumbers, avocado, black beans, bacon, cheese, and a red wine vinaigrette dressing to top it off.
Order a Danger Dog, if you dare. Be prepared to be wowed by this scary-good bacon-wrapped hot dog served with pico de gallo and poblano lime mayo.
Ghost Kitchen also features vegan and gluten-free options daily, including a house-made (or, in this case: ‘truck-made’) black bean burger. As you can see, they are covering all the bases with their fresh offerings.
Oh, and did we mention the Chicken Smash Burger? Need we say any more? We think you better check it out for yourself very soon.
Additionally, we have read that the menu will rotate seasonally. So be on the lookout for even more mouth-watering items to grace the menu over the next few months.
When?
You can catch them whenever the tasting room of Smartmouth is open. Ghost Kitchen is more than a pop-up food truck as their official headquarters is at Smartmouth for the foreseeable future.
Current days are Tuesday-Sunday, with the hours being 4-9 pm T-Th, 3-9 pm on Fridays, 12-9 pm on Saturdays, and 2-8 pm on Sundays.
Don’t Be Scared
Ghost Kitchen is nothing to be afraid of, as they might be in the running for your favorite new food truck in town. Check them out at Smartmouth, Norfolk ASAP, and follow along on their journey on Instagram.
We are personally inviting you to check out Ghost Kitchen sooner rather than later during an event that NFK is proud to be a part of called Norfolk Day. It’s happening this Saturday, July 24, from 12-10 pm. Stop by the NFK vendor table and grab some merch, have a beer in the Smartmouth tasting room, and get to be some of the first people to indulge in the Ghost Kitchen menu for yourself!
