Celebrate Us, The City That Never Sinks – The First Annual Norfolk Day Festival
Hey Folkers,
It’s been a helluva year in our little midsize city on the coast. We’ve lost a lot, we’ve persevered through some tough times, and to be honest, we’re all still reeling a bit. This summer, our community is finally restarting all those connections we put on pause while in quarantine.
The connection we have with our community is one of the most important, and that may have withered on the vine this past year. But restrictions are gone and the city’s open once again. It’s time to restore and celebrate with the rest of us.
What better way to re-meet your neighbors, catch up with old friends, and celebrate the city than a big ol’ festival? Enter Norfolk Day.
The brainchild of Smartmouth Beer and Sweet Brother Touring, Norfolk Day is a full-day festival focused on all the best parts of this port city we call home. We’re talking music, food, beer, vendors, and all your favorite citizens. Of course, the Norfolk Currents team will be there with locally-themed merch so you can rep the city in style. (BTW, we’ll have some never before seen merch on hand)
Of course, Norfolk Currents isn’t the only big name on the lineup. Doddie and T-Mobyle are headlining the DJ portion of the day, so the jams are most definitely going to be fresh. Bar-Q and Ghost Kitchen are feeding the masses with their raved-about fare. Joining Norfolk Currents at the Vendor Market will be a plethora of shops. Mo’s Vintage, Rapid Fire Vintage, Baby’s Corner Vintage, OMT Vintage, and Collected Shapes will be serving up enough vintage gear that this Saturday might turn into a Throwback Thursday. Custom Made Music and Rachel Celia Ceramics will have incredible handmade goods for your home. Pince Ink and RAVISH NORFOLK are joining Norfolk Currents in vending the best merch in town. Be sure to stop by early to enjoy the vendors, as they wrap up at 6 pm.
The two-ton cherry on top is a full lineup of bands in the Smartmouth Warehouse starting at 6 pm. So Totally, Keep, GONE, and Berries are set to make the first annual Norfolk Day Festival an absolute show stopper.
If you’ve made other plans this weekend, cancel them. This festival is going to be everything Norfolk deserves: a flood of vibrant energy and community celebration. This town’s been through a ton this year (and like the past 400 years) and we’re definitely not a perfect city. But this Saturday, take some time to celebrate our wins, our triumphs, and our progress. We’re proud to live alongside all the people that make Norfolk rad.
