It’s the most wonderful time of the year! With the holidays upon us, here are a few bakeries around Norfolk offering festive treats to get you feeling merry and bright.
La Brioche – Neon District
This authentic French artisan bakery offers baked goods made entirely from scratch. During the holiday season, La Brioche is offering traditional favorites such as gingerbread cookies, macarons, chocolate assortments, and is also offering gift baskets. La Brioche will be open during regular hours on Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 am – 1:30 pm and open on Christmas Eve from 7:30 am until 4 pm.
Hummingbird Macarons – Neon District
A stone’s throw away down the street from La Brioche is Hummingbird Macarons, offering an exciting variety of macaron flavors as well as other decadent desserts. Hummingbird has embraced the holiday spirit with their seasonal flavors of macarons and winter wonderland décor. They also offer other festive desserts outside of macarons, such as their Holiday Dome Cakes at $10.25 apiece.
In addition to their sweets, Hummingbird has unique gift ideas for the macaron lover in your life, including macaron-themed tumblers filled with none other than macarons!
The Bakehouse at Chelsea – Chelsea District/West Ghent
Chelsea Bakehouse is serving up festive fare for West Ghent residents to fill their neighbors with holiday cheer. In addition to the traditional loaves of bread and pizzas offered year-round, The Bakehouse features gingerbread loaves, cranberry apple pie, gingerbread cookies, and Stollen – a German holiday classic!
If you’re still looking for the perfect gift and want to support local, Bakehouse gift certificates are available.
The Bakehouse will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 8 am – 8 pm and open on Christmas Eve from 8 am – 2 pm.
The Bonbonnier – Ghent
This bakeshop slings scratch-made cakes and cookies for all of your sweet tooth needs. In addition to holiday cakes, they’re offering a variety of Christmas bites, such as chocolate peppermint cookies and chocolate-dipped pretzel rods.
The Stockpot – Downtown
While the Stockpot isn’t technically known as a bakery, they have many rotating baked goods made in-house! They are currently accepting Christmas preorders for baked goods and gingerbread-making kits. Some of the items available are cinnamon bun bread pudding, coffee cake loaves, and rosemary biscuits. The Stockpot also offers a full brunch menu for pickup on Christmas Eve between 2 – 5, including mimosa kits to go. You can place your order for pickup here.
Norfolk is chock-full of holiday indulgences, and one of the best ways to bring anyone joy is through a sweet treat. Whether for friends, family, or yourself, enjoy a variety of dessert magic to celebrate the season. Happy holidays!
