This OV Spot is Home to CoVa’s Award-Winning Burger

Bar-Q (pronounced bark) is a craft barbeque kitchen located in Bold Mariner offering central Texas-style brisket, sausages, desserts, and most recently, an award-winning burger. Bar-Q recently competed in the illustrious CoVa Battle of the Burgers against some of the most delicious burger joints in all of Hampton Roads. The competition was held several weeks ago at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, where lucky ticket holders had the honor of sampling some of the best burgers 757 offers. Despite the stiff competition, Bar-Q proved their quality comfort food is a force to be reckoned with and secured the coveted honor of best burger! And not just one award for best burger, but both the Battle of the Burgers Judge’s Choice and the People’s Choice Award! You can check out the complete list of competitors here to see for yourself that this was no easy feat to come out on top.

What to Expect from this CoVa Award-Winning Burger

If you haven’t visited Bar-Q yet, it’s worth a special trip. The establishment is a true experience, offering picturesque views, laid-back vibes, award-winning beers to pair with your burger, and flavorful, quality cuisine. The gold prize burger, the PB^2, is topped with peanut butter, pork belly, jalapeños, hot pepper jelly, and pepper jack cheese. Although it may sound like an unexpected pairing, the balance of spice, sweet, and nutty flavors combine for a melt-in-your-mouth blend. Fair warning, once you try this piece of heaven, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a burger that can bring your taste buds equal satisfaction.

When you visit, pair this delectable dish with a hearty side of their Smack & Cheese or Peggy’s Corn, full of creamy, cheesy goodness.

Aside from their award-winning burger, Bar-Q’s other menu options, including the meat lovers platter incorporating any smoked meat you can imagine, and the pulled pork sandwich, boast just as much juicy goodness. Top it off with one of their vast array of desserts, so dreamy and well-known that they even have their own Instagram page! Check it often, as they’re constantly whipping up new creations.

You can enjoy Bar-Q’s quality fare Wednesday from 3 pm – 8 pm, Thursday through Saturday from noon until 8 pm, and Sunday from noon until 7 pm. Make sure to get there early, as Bar-Q has historically sold out quickly. Foodies across Hampton Roads often arrive early to get their hands on a plate of Bar-Q tastiness while it lasts. Since their meats are always smoked fresh and take time to soak in all that juicy, flavorful goodness, you know that the meat you’re getting is worth the wait. Enjoy your feast in one of the cozy rooms of this beach house-inspired bank-turned brewery, or enjoy your meal from an Adirondack chair with a summer breeze.
